BLESSINGS FROM THE BILL RICE RANCH (6)

On October 2, 2008 a small band of intrepid warriors, weary from the daily struggles of life, made their way through the splendors of north Florida, the long winding roads of Georgia, and the treacherous mountains of Tennessee to the Bill Rice Ranch for much needed rest, relaxation, and recharging. As usual, the ranch did NOT disappoint!

Two great services on Thursday night and a good nights sleep did nothing but prepare us for the next day of blessing.

On Friday morning, October 3, 2008 after a fantastic breakfast (the food at the Ranch is utterly delicious) we had our first service of the day. Evangelist Bill Rice III was the preacher and as usual he preached the Word with power. The second speaker of the day was Evangelist Troy Carlson. See November 2008 blogs for more details of these messages. Evangelist Rick Flanders stepped up to the plate later that day. All these guys were hitting home runs! Brother Flanders preached on, "WHY THE FAILURE?" from Acts 1:1-14. See last week for details.

That evening Evangelist Troy Carlson preached on "WHY GO TO CHURCH?" using as his text Heb. 10:24-25. The Bible says "Let us consider one another to provoke (stir up) unto love and good works"

How? "In this context", he said, "by church attendance!"

I. THE PREACHING [I Cor. 1:18-24ff]

How can I get more out of church and the messages?

1. Be On Time

2. When you are there (physically) - be there! (mentally, spiritually, emotionally)

3. Sit in a place where you and yours will not be distracted.

II. THE PASTOR "for they watch for your souls"

[the following 3 thoughts weren't necessarily given by brother Carlson word for word- my notes were a little hard to read here-RJ]

1. Pray for him don't criticize him

2. Befriend him don't betray him

3. Acknowledge his humanity and apply the golden rule and I Cor. 13

III. THE PEOPLE [v. 24]

How can you provoke others?

1. By your attendance

2. By your baptism

3. By your membership

4. By your words

5. By your example
