JUDE 3
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. CONTEND
1. Against Wickedness [Ephesians 6:12] -For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
2. Against Other's Weakness [Gal. 2:11]
-But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
3. Against Worldliness [1 Jn. 2:15-17]
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
II. CONTEND FOR THE FAITH
1. Based on the Word of God [Acts 6:7]
And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith
2 Basic to Salvation [Acts 24:24, 13:1ff]
And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.
3. Basic to Growth [Acts 14:22, 16:4-5]
-Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
-And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem. And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily .
III. ONCE DELIVERED
1. Once for All [Jude 1:3]
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
2. Once For Ever [1 Peter 3:18]
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
3. Once for Eternity [Hebrews 9:7, 26-28]
-But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
-For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
